Elements of Learning. Committed to Excellence

Our curriculum promotes Flight-Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework which inspires curriculum meaning-making that highlights the relationships and curriculum decisions shaping responsive practices in early learning and childcare communities. Our educators support these important early years, to inspire children to be bold explorers today and joyful, confident learners for life. We believe that children learn best through play and are inspired by child-based learning. We have several different areas of play in each of our groups.

Curriculum
Elements

Sensory

Sensory activities encourage children to explore and investigate while simultaneously building nerve connections in the brain.

Physical Activities

Children need to develop large motor and fine motor skills. Everyday activities encourage children to get up, get active, and get moving!

Art

Children are encouraged and guided to engage in themed arts and crafts everyday. Creativity is fostered and nurtured through such activities

Outdoor Excursions

Excursions form a vital part of a child’s early education. They expose a child to a range of different experiences and enable them to gain a sense of the world in which they find themselves.

Socio - emotional

Children are encouraged to deal with the social and emotional world around them through discussions, storytelling, group activities, games, and more

Science & Math

Considerably basic concepts of science and math are introduced through themed programs based on emergent curriculum.

Literacy

Our children are taught how to become successful readers and our everyday activities help build rich language skills: vocabulary, self-expression, and understanding.

We believe children learn by building on their interests – primarily through play-based learning. Teachers help children learn by creating a rich environment to explore via interest oriented and exciting educational activities.

  1. Image of the child

Teachers can then shape and build on that knowledge by discovering what children already know through observation, one-on-one conversation, clarification, and invitation to explore the world around them.

  2. Positive Discipline

Spanking or other forms of corporal punishment are never to be used as a means of disciplining students. Nottingham promotes positive discipline through redirecting and by providing interest based choices.

  3. Environment is important

We like to work and play in attractive surroundings so our buildings are clean, relatively tidy, and pleasing to the eye. The outdoor environments are large, have colourful and interesting gardens, and a variety of activities.

My wife and I are very happy with the care and education our daughter gets there. She spends more time there than anywhere else–even home it seems. She has met and exceeded her milestones. She has learned manners–everything is “please” “thank you”–this from a two year old!! She loves her teachers, she knows the parts of the body–and it is obvious the teachers love the kids. Our daughter is happy to see her parents, but she is also happy in the mornings to see her friends and teachers, calling them by name. No separation fits and anxiety. A child would not do that if they were asked to enter a bad environment. The teachers are great, from the stories, to teaching the kids crafts and social behavior–like how to line up and wait–we are very confident that our daughter will easily get into a good school after tutor time.

Our one year old son is thriving at Nottingham Child Care. We tried a day home, where he cried all day for a month, and after just a week here he was happy in the mornings and waving goodbye to me. The staffs are excellent, very attentive and affectionate, and communicate well with the parents. They provide breakfast and you send lunch and snacks, which was unlike most of the Centre’s I visited but has become an easy part of our routine and we know what he is eating. Excellent day care!

This is honestly the best daycare we could ever have picked for our daughter! Over the last 2 years we have always felt confident that our toddler is receiving quality care and much love. Management and Staff are always friendly, kind and very accommodating. We highly recommend this quality facility.

Our son has been in this daycare for almost 3 years now and we could not be happier at our choice to put him here. The staff is always smiling and very nice to talk too. The level of care and education the children get at this daycare is top notch. We are continually amazed watching our son grow as he learns so much every day. Looking back I am glad I was unable to work from home and had to put him in a daycare because he would not be at the level he is today if he were home with me every day. I am constantly being complimented on how advanced my son is for 3….most people are amazed when I say he is only 3!! I would recommend this daycare to anyone who is looking to put their child in an education based daycare. 😁😁

Thank you all so much for the warmest welcome and amazing care you have provided to this most important member of our family. You made the transition so much easier for us with the emails and updates. It meant so much to us seeing how much my child loves her teachers puts my mind and heart at ease; I know she is in good hands with you all.
